ABOUT LAKEWAY

Lakeway is a one-of-a-kind, high-status, growth-managed city that offers all the amenities expected of a modern municipality. The City's government oversees law enforcement, courts, construction, parks, recreation, transportation, utilities, and garbage collection. In addition, municipal utility districts provide water and sewage treatment, while fire protection and emergency medical services are provided by Lake Travis Fire Rescue (Travis County ESD #6). According to Lakeway's charter, the City is governed by a council-manager hybrid. The City's legislative body consists of the mayor and six council members, all of whom are elected at large. The city manager is responsible for overseeing the City's day-to-day operations, following the policies set out by the city council, and keeping the City's finances in order. Property tax, sales tax, and franchise fees are the City's main revenue generators.

Lakeway, Texas, was initially planned as a retirement and vacation home neighborhood. However, families flock to Lake Travis because of its prestigious Lake Travis Independent School District and its family-friendly "lake lifestyle" amenities. The City's proximity to Austin and its abundance of outdoor activities, such as tennis, golf, hiking, biking, picnics, camping, fishing, boating, swimming, and scuba diving, draw empty-nesters and young professionals. The people who call Lakeway home are involved in civic life and proud of their City's rich heritage.

Lakeway is a hamlet near Austin, Texas that offers a tranquil alternative to the hectic pace of the City. Enjoy the "lake lifestyle" in Lakeway, where you can work and play in the same community.
